What it will never do.
- It never runs code a server sends.
- It never downloads anything because a server asks.
- It only uses a short list of approved models.
- It only generates text.
- The AI engine must listen only on your own computer. If Ollama is open to your network, the app refuses to start and shows you the fix.
- Updates are signed and checked. If an update fails, it rolls back on its own.
- "Go back to previous version" is one button on the status page.
- You can pause at any time.
- "Start with my computer" is off until you turn it on.
What it does not protect
We would rather say this now than have you find out later.
- The text of other people's jobs passes through your computer, to Ollama and back.
- Do not run it on a work computer, a shared computer, or any machine with confidential files.
- It uses power and your graphics card while it works.
- Power controls (run only when idle, cap GPU use) are coming. They are not here yet.
The Windows warning you will see
When you first start the app, Windows shows "Windows protected your PC". This is an unsigned testnet build. Windows warns about every program it has not seen before. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Before you do, you can check that your copy was not damaged or swapped. Open PowerShell in the folder and run:
certutil -hashfile symbiosis.exe SHA256 certutil -hashfile symbiosis-miner.exe SHA256
Compare each result with the SHA-256 lines Adrian sends you in a separate message. If they do not match, do not run it, and tell Adrian.
